Gearbag stories part 1: Cameras

Technically inclined people will love this one. People that don't care about technical and nerdy stuff, head over to the portfolio section ;)

So what's in my gear bag camera wise? As a professional photographer with over a decade of experience, I have tried and tested various cameras and lenses from different brands. However, after years of work (I used Canon and Nikon bodies in parallel for six years, crazy, isn't it?), I have come to find that Canon cameras and lenses are the perfect tools for my style of photography.

My primary camera is the Canon EOS R5, a flagship model that has become my go-to choice for both wedding and portrait photography. The skin tones that this camera produces are just perfect, and the images are always tack sharp. What's more, the autofocus system is incredibly reliable, making it easy to capture those fleeting moments that make a photo truly special.

In fact, I was so impressed with the Canon EOS R5 that I bought it a second time. Having two of the same camera means that I never have to worry about compatibility issues, and it gives me the added security of a backup camera in case of technical issues.

My backup camera is the Canon 5D Mark III, a trusted workhorse that has been by my side for many years. While it may not have all the latest features of the EOS R5, it is still a highly capable camera that produces stunning results.

When it comes to lenses, I have chosen to stick with the original Canon lenses as these have proven to be the most reliable for my needs. My two primary lenses are the RF 24-70mm f/2.8 and the RF 70-200mm f/2.8, both of which are incredibly versatile and produce outstanding image quality. I also have a few backup lenses, such as the 24-105mm and 35mm f/1.4, to cover all my bases.

While technical specifications are important, they are not the main factor in my photography. For me, the most important thing is the ability to capture authentic moments and emotions. That's why I choose Canon cameras and lenses, as they give me the tools to create images that truly capture the essence of my clients.

One of the reasons I choose Canon is because of their dedication to perfecting their autofocus systems. The EOS R5, in particular, has an incredibly advanced autofocus system that makes it easy to track moving subjects, even in challenging lighting conditions. This means that I can focus on capturing the moment, rather than worrying about technical details.

Another factor that sets Canon apart is their weather sealing. As a wedding photographer, I often have to work in less than ideal weather conditions, and it's reassuring to know that my gear can handle it. I can confidently shoot in rain or shine, without worrying about my camera or lenses getting damaged.

But above all, what sets Canon apart for me is their dedication to creating tools that help me tell a story. As a portrait and wedding photographer, my main goal is to capture the emotions and personalities of my clients. With Canon, I can trust that every image I take will be a true representation of the people in front of my lens.

Unveiling the new website

I was feeling frustrated with my old wedding photography website. It had been okay when I started out, but it seemed dull and lifeless now; completely unable to show the true beauty of my photographs. On top of that, I had all of my services on one website – something which I felt gave off an unprofessional vibe.

So I decided to change things up. I needed a radical overhaul, something which shone and showed the stunning, vibrant images I could capture.

As part of this rebranding process, I wanted to separate my commercial and private photography services. Having everything lumped together gave a disorganized impression, so I created two distinct websites for each type of photography.

My goal was to have the websites be modern and eye-catching, truly conveying the passion and emotion behind my images. After much hard work and dedication, my new look was complete!
